Steven Kreager – 2025 Feature Screenplay Finalist

Tee Tee Boy

When a young man brings his terminally-ill mother home from the hospital to try one final round of chemotherapy, ominous intruders descend upon the house and demand to see her.

In 2019, I lost my mom to Stage 4 kidney cancer. After she passed, I watched every film about grief I could, but I couldn’t relate to them. They showed perfectly-scripted, tearful goodbyes—but death is sudden. It’s desperation. It’s horror. It feels like someone breaking into your house and stealing your loved one forever.

When the doctors gave us the choice to bring my mother home or bring her to hospice, we made the decision for hospice. This film explores an alternate reality—a horror-infused, dreamlike fairytale—where we made the opposite choice.

Tee Tee Boy is melodramatic horror—expressionistic but with a family drama grounding every unsettling moment. The heightened, surreal world captures the character’s state of mind. It starts as a psychological thriller that shifts into a dream-logic reality throughout Act 2, and ends with a body horror climax that’s been alluded to throughout. Like the film Barbarian, Tee Tee Boy is a mashup of different horror genres with wild but clear shifts.

Ultimately, this story is a piece of deeply-personal fiction where I poured my experience into a trim, compact 89-page script that doesn’t waste a second. And if you read it, I hope you read it at night.
