Pierre Langenegger – 2024 Short Film Script Finalist
The Exorcism of Father Gabriel
While performing an exorcism on a young girl, a priest recognizes the voices of the demons from his past and realizes they are judging him for his crimes against them.
The Exorcism of Father Gabriel explores the thoughts in the mind of a person at the moment of death and the consequences of past actions.
We are introduced to Father Gabriel who appears to wake at a dining table in an unfamiliar apartment.
He is then led to a room with a young girl bound to her bed and realizes he is there to perform an exorcism.
As Father Gabriel reads from his book of prayer, multiple voices emerge from the girl’s mouth to torment him. Father Gabriel tries to ignore them and continue with his mission.
But as an unexplained smoke rises in the room and Father Gabriel chokes through his prayers he recognizes the voices and seeks to escape, but he is trapped. We discover the entire scene has played out only in his mind and he is dying in his bed at the rectory as his room burns around him.
I hope to see The Exorcism of Father Gabriel come alive on the screen and look forward to collaborating with other filmmakers.
