“The Black Sheep” is a darkly comic take on brotherhood, family, extremism, violence and guilt. The screenplay takes place in rural Ireland and presents a dire situation that gradually gets out of hand. Innocent people are pulled into the undertakings of criminals and subsequently have their lives irrevocably altered.

I wanted to write a story that mixes comedy and crime in a unique way. The characters are constantly at odds with one another and this adds to the comic tension throughout.

I am particularly excited by cinema, which showcases characters in morally grey situations. I believe that this is where we unsheathe our masks and reveal who we truly are.

This social unveiling is another one of my main intentions with “The Black Sheep”. These aspects of the human condition fascinate me and motivate me deeply to bring engaging tales to the big screen.

Overall the script is a farcical satire on contemporary society and has universal appeal due to its reflection on these social themes.

My name is Jannik Ohlendieck and I am a filmmaker based in Dublin, Ireland. I have written & directed numerous short films. Stories concerning the fatal flaws of tragic characters with a darkly comic twist are of real interest to me.

My goals as a screenwriter are to write feature film screenplays for a living. I have been making short films for many years now and believe it is time for me to move onto more ambitious projects.
